The former Fishermen's and Tanners' quarter reflects the tradition of the craft guild in Ulm. You can still see some remnants of these professions, such as sailors, millers, yarn boilers, bakers, etc.

You can consider yourself very fortunate that the tanners do not work in their tan pits anymore since there is an old German saying that goes: "You cannot make leather without a terrible stench."
