Those wanting to explore Ulm themselves at first, simply follow the signs along the StadtRadRoute. They will lead you to its tourist attractions, which are notoriously plentiful in this ancient imperial city.

On the Danube cycling route Donaueschingen-Passau (and from there onwards to Vienna and Budapest), these lucky cyclists can even glide past part of the historic city wall, with Ulm´s facade serving as a backdrop. The Donau-Bodensee (Danube-Lake Constance) cycle route guides you through the diverse landscape of Upper Swabia, past historical cities and baroque architectural gems. The 152-kilometre long main route starts in Ulm, and leads through Bad Waldsee and Wangen to Kressbronn on Lake Constance. Those with more time on their hands can embark on the Oberschwaben-Allgäu-Weg, a 357-kilometre long circular route.

The Iller cycle route extends from the mouth of the River Iller all the way to its source. Along 150 kilometres, it runs from Ulm/Neu-Ulm via Illertissen, Memmingen and Kempten to Allgäu and Oberstdorf. From a cyclist´s perspective, the Alb-Neckar region (Ulm-Kirchheim-Heilbronn, approx. 250 km), and the Hohenloher Land via the Hohenlohe-Ostalb-Weg Aalen-Ellenwangen-Rothenburg, approx. 170 km, are also very well connected.

You want to return to Ulm/Neu-Ulm in the evening? Then you will be spoilt for choice because it is an ideal point of departure for shorter trips to the green surroundings. Popular destinations are the Kleines or Großes Lautertal, Blaubeuren with the Blautopf (literally translates as blue pot and means the spring serving as the source of the river Blau), or the Wiblingen and Roggenburg monasteries. So what are you waiting for? Your destination is the route itself. It can only end in fun!
